Family Therapy

Family therapy provides a powerful space to explore relational dynamics, repair communication breakdowns, and strengthen emotional connection. Challenges such as ongoing conflict, miscommunication, or emotional distance often reflect patterns that have developed over time, and therapy offers a space to reset those dynamics in a supportive, structured way.

Our Approach

At ClearMind, we honor the needs of each individual while also addressing the family system as a whole. Sessions are collaborative and compassionate, designed to give every voice in the room space to be heard, while also moving the family toward shared understanding and healthier interactions.

Depending on the goals identified, sessions may include the full family or just select members (such as a parent and teen), and may occur weekly or biweekly.

When Family Therapy Helps

Family therapy can be especially useful when:

  • Communication feels strained or reactive

  • Parenting conflicts are creating tension

  • Teens are pulling away or acting out in ways that impact the whole family

  • There has been a recent change (divorce, loss, move) that has shifted the family dynamic

  • Sibling relationships feel hostile or disconnected

  • Family members want to better understand and support each other’s emotional needs

Who Provides This Service

Both Melony Cohen, PsyD and Alexa Winer, AMFT, are available for family therapy. Alexa brings a warm, grounded presence to this work and has a particular strength in bridging the gap between teens and adults. Her training in relational systems and communication makes her a strong fit for families navigating emotional tension, generational divides, or growing pains within the parent–teen relationship.
