Our Approach

At ClearMind Psychological Services, we provide thoughtful, individualized care for children, teens, and their families. Whether through comprehensive psychological testing or ongoing psychotherapy, our goal is to foster insight, growth, and long-term emotional well-being.

Psychological Testing Approach

All psychological testing is conducted by Dr. Melony Cohen, a licensed clinical psychologist with a decade of experience in psychoeducational and psychodiagnostic evaluations. Dr. Cohen specializes in assessing learning differences, ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, and other developmental or emotional concerns.

Each evaluation is carefully tailored to the child’s unique profile using a combination of standardized tools, clinical observation, and caregiver input. The process emphasizes collaboration and clarity from the initial intake through the feedback session and final report.

Our testing approach is known for:

  • Clear, practical, and easy-to-understand reports

  • Individualized recommendations tailored to each child’s needs

  • Guidance on academic accommodations, testing supports, and IEP/504 planning (when appropriate)

  • A family-centered process that ensures parents feel informed, supported, and empowered to advocate across home and school settings

Therapy Approach

Psychotherapy at ClearMind is rooted in warmth, trust, and evidence-based care. Both Dr. Cohen and Alexa Winer, AMFT, provide therapy services, each bringing a unique clinical perspective while sharing a commitment to relational, attuned treatment.

We work with children, adolescents, young adults, and parents to foster insight, emotional resilience, and stronger connections. Sessions are individualized and draw from multiple therapeutic frameworks.

Our therapeutic approach includes:

  • Psychodynamic and relational therapy

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Mindfulness practices

  • Attachment-based frameworks

Areas of focus often include:

  • Anxiety, stress, and mood concerns

  • Identity development and self-esteem

  • Parenting challenges

  • Family and life transitions

We believe that supporting one generation can have a ripple effect on the next. By healing emotional patterns, building insight, and developing tools for self-regulation, we aim to create meaningful and lasting change for individuals and families alike.
