Support for the Challenges You’re Facing

Parenting a child who struggles with big feelings or behaviors can feel overwhelming. You may wonder if you’re doing enough, or why nothing seems to help. These are concerns we hear every day from caring parents just like you.

The good news is, your child already has the capacity to thrive. They just need guidance, tools, and support.

Our therapy services are designed to help children, teens, and families feel understood, connected, and empowered to move forward.

Common Struggles We Support Children Through

Every child struggles at times and needing extra support doesn’t mean something is “wrong.” Therapy can help when emotions, behaviors, or stress start to feel overwhelming for your child or your family.

We often work with children who are experiencing:

  • Anxiety, worries, or frequent fears

  • Big emotions, meltdowns, or difficulty calming down

  • Separation anxiety or trouble with transitions

  • School stress, perfectionism, or academic pressure

  • Low confidence or negative self-talk

  • Behavioral challenges at home or school

  • Difficulty expressing feelings or needs

  • Social challenges or friendship struggles

  • Changes in the family (move, divorce, new sibling, loss)

  • Sleep issues, irritability, or frequent emotional overwhelm

Hello, I’m Dr. Melony Cohen and I specialize in helping kids and families thrive again.

Licensed Psychologist, CA | 10+ years experience | Early Childhood Specialist

I’m Dr. Melony Cohen, a licensed clinical psychologist and the founder of ClearMind Psychological Services, Inc. Together with my associate, Alexa Winer, AMFT, we provide expert care for toddlers through teens, as well as parent support.

Whether you prefer in-person sessions at our Beverly Hills–adjacent office or virtual sessions anywhere in California, we are here to meet your family’s needs with warmth and expertise.

Our goal is to bring clarity, confidence, and support to families; helping children and teens thrive and parents feel empowered every step of the way.

Kids don’t always have the words to explain how they feel so therapy meets them where they are.

Children express themselves through play, creativity, and connection. Sessions may include games, art, storytelling, movement, and age-appropriate activities that help kids explore emotions, build coping skills, and feel safe being themselves. We also use evidence-based approaches including psychodynamic and relational therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), mindfulness, and attachment-based therapies to meet each child’s unique needs.

While it may look playful, each session is intentional. Your child’s therapist is gently helping them understand their feelings, regulate big emotions, develop confidence, and learn healthier ways to communicate without pressure or judgment.

Parents are an essential part of the process. You’ll receive guidance, insights, and practical tools so progress continues at home and school, not just during sessions.

Over time, families often notice fewer meltdowns, smoother routines, improved emotional regulation, and a stronger parent-child connection.

Therapy for Kids Is Different

Healing Happens Best When Parents Feel Supported Too

Parents play an essential role in a child’s healing, but that doesn’t mean you’re expected to have all the answers. We work closely with parents to offer guidance, insight, and practical support, while always honoring your family’s unique dynamics.

Through thoughtful collaboration, we help you better understand your child’s emotional world, reinforce therapeutic skills at home, and feel more confident responding to challenges as they arise. When parents feel supported, children feel safer, and meaningful progress can unfold.

Understanding Comes First

We take time to understand your child’s emotional world and what may be showing up through their behavior. When things make more sense, parents often feel relief and children feel more supported.

Guidance That Feels Supportive, Not Overwhelming

You’re not expected to navigate this alone. We offer gentle guidance and ongoing support as therapy unfolds, helping parents feel steadier and more confident along the way.

Growth That Extends Beyond the Therapy Room

With consistent care and connection, many families notice shifts that show up in everyday life such as, smoother routines, stronger communication, and joy returning.
